Welcome to Raccoon River Canoes. We are passionate about our paddle sports, and are working to make canoeing and kayaking more accessible and affordable for everyone. Contact us to learn more about discovering Iowa's greatest treasures - our streams and rivers.
We monitor the weather situation and advise of any potential adverse weather conditions prior to your trip departure. You can check the current weather conditions and radar at: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USIA0914
Here's dogger jumping in the water after a stick at Lynx Lake in the Boundary Waters in 2009.
We will outfit your group with canoes and / or kayaks, life vests, and when needed, canoe seats with backs. We can help to plan your Raccoon River float trip, including canoe drop off and pick up services. Our current fleet includes 15 canoes and 10 kayaks, along with a 15-passenger van to accomodate large groups. We offer several trip options including 10, 15, or 20 mile floats ranging from 3-10 hours or more. Overnight trips are also available. Please contact us for more information.
Here are some of the Walleye's we caught at Lynx lake...we ate quite well!

Thanks to the rain on Saturday, the river is now at a great level for floating!
You can check the current river level at the USGS river stage website: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?05484500. We use the gage at Van Meter to help determine if it is safe to put you on the water - the river level there must be around 7 feet or lower.
Fish are trying to fatten up for winter and so are eating everything in site...it's a good time for fishing! The catfish are active as ever and biting well on the Raccoon River. See the Iowa DNR weekly fishing report for more information: http://www.iowadnr.com/news/currentfish.html
